Original Art Deco Sculpture "The Javelin Thrower" signed J. RUDENS (Jean de Roncourt)
Period: original Art Deco 1920/1930
Product: Art Deco sculpture of a warrior or hunter.
Representation of movement and strength.
Material: presumably nickel-plated tin, signed with the artist's name. Base: dark marble. The sculpture can be unscrewed from the marble. The spear is movable and detachable. This is intended to allow the owner to easily adjust the positioning.
Artist: Jean de Roncourt (pseudonym RUDENS), French sculptor (1869-1937). He is considered one of the most significant masters of male nude representation in the Art Deco era (circa 1920/1930). His works are characterized by dynamic, athletic poses and a strong emphasis on musculature. Common themes include hunters, fishermen, archers, and classical warriors or gladiators.
Uses: decoration, great on an antique dresser
Dimensions: H: 36cm W:50cm D: 19cm
Condition: the figure itself is in very good condition with a beautiful patina of age. The original marble base shows signs of wear due to age in the form of some chips (dings) on the edges
that do not affect stability and emphasize the antique character of the original piece.
